Let Us Now Praise Peter Case

Peter Case

Peter Case was nominated for a Grammy Award for his solo album, Let Us Now Praise Sleepy John. I told you about this record when it came out. And this blog has sung the praises of the Plimsouls and each of the band members a lot. I love those guys and their music.

The Grammy nod is one certainly well deserved for a man as talented as Peter, who works so hard and so non-stop. The nomination is in the category of Best Traditional Folk album. Kind of a far turn from a punk/power pop/garage/soul/r&b thing that Peter was known for in the Nerves and Plimsouls. But remember, Peter's been doing the solo traditional folk/acoustic thing since about 1984 (23 years now), making him a solo artist for more of his lifetime and career than he was a Nerve or a Plimsoul...

Peter Case is fantastic. His writing, playing, and view of the world is unique and yet has a universal appeal. Wish he was more well known. I know that he doesnt give a damn about that, but it seems like a shame for those who will not hear his music, or stories of life. He is an interesting guy to talk with. Has done work with many other artists, such as John Doe, The Beat Farmers, Marshall Crenshaw, on and on. Thanks for the posting!
Still Mark in Omaha!
