Road Trips
Pleasant and me in a San Francisco photo booth, April, 1978.
1978 was a pretty active year for road trips involving Blondie. The previous post described a trip to San Diego. Earlier in the year, April, to be exact, we took the drive up to San Francisco. That's where this photo was taken:
Blondie played the Greek Theatre on the UC Berkeley campus, and on this tour, there were t-shirts and buttons, in black, with hot pink letters proclaiming, BLONDIE IS A GROUP!
All these years later, I finally saw some of Target Video's Jill Hoffman's photos from this very show. Here's a tip --- Target Video will be releasing a Flipper DVD later this year! They're also going all 21st century and can be found on myspace.com/targetvideo --- so check them out!
These punk rock road trips were some of the best experiences I ever had... what could be more fun than piling all your friends into your tiny car and hitting the road to see your friends in bands play? We got to know cities all over the state, the USA itself, and many of us got to know cities around the world. Where ever I go in the world, it seems I have a punk rock era friend.
