My favorite garage/punk band from the 1990's, The Oblivians will be reuniting again to play the (final?) Horizontal Action Blackout in Chicago on Memorial Day Weekend this year.
This marks a great anniversary for Punk Turns 30 too. It was at the 2005 Horizontal Action Blackout that we started our traveling exhibit. At that event, both Eric and Greg were there with their other bands, Bad Times and Reigning Sound. Last time the Oblivians reunited, on Halloween 2003, I was prevented from attending by workplace obligations that ironically would make the entire garage rock community laugh hysterically about six months later. I haven't seen the Oblivians since 1997 - a wild and crazy show in Paris.
You can buy tickets online now through the Empty Bottle website. The Blackout is taking place May 24 - 27 at the Empty Bottle. Don't miss this, don't you dare!
This is who else is performing:

And kudos to Matt Williams for putting together one hell of an exciting weekend and send-off for the old Blackout.
