Punk Rock Girl Power
Belinda, Pleasant and Rosemarie (Wyline) - you've seen their faces here before.
Punk Rock was driven by girl power at every level. Some of the most successful musicians came from punk rock (like Belinda, above, and more famously, Debbie Harry of Blondie, Joan Jett and more) and some of the most successful punk rockers had behind-the-scenes help from the ladies who were effective managers, publishers and A&R people (like Lobotomy's Anna Statman). This week, take a look at some of LA and California punk rock's girl power.
First up: Pleasant Gehman, (center) founder of Lobotomy, Queen of the backstage scene, writer extraordinaire, member of the Screaming Sirens, and these days... Princess Farhana.
Come back every day to see a teenaged Pleasant play "dress-up" for the camera. We've got a rock n roll nurse in your future.
