Shows this Week

September 2 rock show, originally uploaded by Theresa K.

Its Summer's last hurrah. Let's work backwards from Labor Day weekend -

If you are in NYC, be sure to mark Friday, September 2 on your calendar and come on down to Union Pool in Williamsburg to see BBQ, Demons Claws and the Turpentine Brothers. Gas is too expensive for you to take a road trip. Stay home and rock out here! I think you will love these bands.

Here are links to their websites. Listen to their tunes, and then see them live:

If you are in LA, do not miss the opportunity of a lifetime!

Alice Bag and The Castration Squad are making Friday night special for you. This is a special Castration Squad reunion, with Dinah Cancer and others, including Alice Bag (on keyboards)at the Key Club. You may never get another chance to see this, so go. Friday, September 2.

Monday, August 29 in NYC, Cleveland's answer to the Minutemen, The New Lou Reeds will play at Lit Lounge.

At CBGB, Sham 69, The Radicts, and Youth Brigade will be playing. Once again, I'm going to try to flip between two gigs. I did it successfully last Friday, and I think you can too.

I spoke briefly with Sham 69 guitarist Dave Parsons yesterday and it was so exciting to hear his voice after 20 years. For those of you who don't know or don't remember, Dave was a member of the Wanderers, with Stiv Bators and other members of Sham 69's line up at that time, Dave "Kermit" Tregunna and Rick Rock. We toured the USA together in the summer of 1981, and at the end of the tour, Dave and I flew stand-by from NYC to LA. What a pair. We both hate to fly. Soon there will be photos posted from those tour dates and the rehearsals in Sun Valley, CA.

On Wednesday, August 31, once again at CBGB, there will be a Photo Benefit Auction and I have donated five hand-printed 11x14 BW prints. Those images you've pretty much seen here: Johnny Ramone, Joey Ramone, Billy Idol & Joan Jett, Blondie. However, if you're in NYC and you're available at 6 pm, come on down to the opening, because ITS FREE and there's one photo I've yet to post here (haven't scanned it yet - so sorry) of The Cramps. It is a group photo from their first trip to LA. They're gathered around a table in their Tropicana Motel room, and Lux is holding a crystal ball. The line-up in this photo is: Lux, Ivy, Bryan Gregory and Nick Knox.

Finally, on Saturday, September 3, listen to Terre T.'s Cherry Blossom Clinic on WFMU to hear live sets from BBQ, Demons Claws and the The Turpentine Brothers. Later that night, in the lovely seaside town of Asbury Park, NJ at the fabulous and kitschy Asbury Lanes, (best bowling alley burgers on the East Coast!) you can catch BBQ and Demons Claws again. They are in Philadelphia the following night.

Yes, it is a Labor Day weekend full of BBQ. I really can't get my fill of it....Mark Sultan OR this:

We MAY be doing a cook out at Union Pool. Keep your eyes on this space, New Yorkers, and I'll let you know for sure.
