Here's another Most Valuable Player type.
Troy Gregory, Detroit's secret weapon. He's seated in front of the Ding Dong Lounge with Stepsister, Noelle Christine. Currently, Troy plays bass in the Dirtbombs, fronts The Stepsisters, pinch hits for The Volebeats if Matt Smith needs a hand, but most important of all, Troy Gregory IS the man behind The Witches.
Troy's musical history is rich - he's quite possibly got the fastest fingers around... so much so that metal bands were wooing him. He has played in Prong and in Flotsam and Jetsam...Metallica wanted him to audition (he didn't). Cooler, Troy played with Killing Joke, and it just goes to show that an able musician can do anything.
But its been tough being a Witch. Even with Kim Fowley as one of your fans!
To that end, Troy has made his current Witches and Stepsisters records available for download by donation on his websites.
If this technology had been around during punk's heyday, I have no idea how many more bands would have been heard and heard of. So many regional pockets of great music went unheard.
It doesn't have to be that way anymore!
Check out The Witches website for high entertainment value and links to more music.
You can also get a daily download at Kingblind, a cool blog out of Seattle.
If you can't get enough of Troy Gregory, like my camera can't... I actually have a whole website devoted to pictures of Troy. He loves the camera and the camera loves him!
Who says you can't photograph vampires?
